Consol 1101 MV a medium viscosity is a 100% solid two component, solvent free structural epoxy adhesive. It contains polyamide curing agent engineered for high strength versatility and ease of application. When cured provides a high degree of toughness, strength, adhesion and chemical resistance. Consol 1101 MV conforms to ASTM C-881 Type I, II, IV, Grade 2, Class B and D.
Ideal for bonding fresh Portland cement concrete to hardened concrete, wood, stone, metals and other construction materials. It can be used to secure metal anchors, bolts, re-bars, and dowels to concentrate Consol 1101 MV is water insensitive for use on damp surfaces that are free of standing water.
INSTRUCTION FOR USE SURFACE PREPARATION
Surfaces to be bonded must be clean. Where surfaces are contaminated with grease or oil, this should be removed by treatment with Consol chemical degreaser, followed by washing thoroughly with clean water. All laitance should be removed mechanically.
Steel to be bonded should be sandblasted and vacuum cleaned. If sandblasting is not possible, degrease the surface and use sandpaper or wire brush to reveal bright metal.
Pour the hardener into the resin (or vice versa) at a 1:1 ratio by volume. Be sure to scrape the sides, bottom and corners so that all materials will be in proper proportion. Mix the components thoroughly until a uniform color without streaks or lumps is attained. Mix only the amount of material that can be used within the pot life period.
Bonding Fresh Concrete to hardened Concrete
Use stiff brush to apply a coat of mixed epoxy to the prepared surface at a rate of 5-7 square meters per gallon. Pour the fresh concrete as soon as possible after applying the epoxy adhesive. Delayed pouring of concrete may cause the epoxy adhesive to reach a soft rubber-like state with no tack. A second epoxy adhesive application will be required prior to pouring of concrete. If the epoxy adhesive has hardened, a mechanical scarification is required prior to re application of epoxy adhesive.
EPOXY SAND MORTAR GROUT
The combination of epoxy and well graded sand makes a high strength mortar grout for patching, topping, grouting and repairing spalls and other defects in concrete. Mix clean, dry and graded sand to epoxy in a ratio of one part epoxy to 2 parts sand. Mix long enough to obtain good wetting of sand. Apply a thin coat of pure epoxy to the prepared surface as a primer prior to the application of epoxy sand mortar grout.
